In the past years Felix gave project-oriented courses on the study of popular music culture and computer games from the perspective of Kulturwissenschaft. He is part of the experimental media project soniK Radiofabrik. How is culture constituted sonically?

In what ways are perception, thinking and epistemic practices as such predisposed by the sonic? To re present and negotiate concepts and argumentations sonically is a yet rather marginal and unconventionalised form that bears a high potential for future research in Sound Studies and beyond — thereby following the recent impetus of a design turn within the humanities. We developed this approach further at the Fluid Sounds conference in Copenhagen where we produced the audio paper Transducing the Bosavi Rainforest.

This article discusses sonic epistemology and thinking as theoretical background of this approach of writing through sound and describes a concept of the audio paper format alongside the example produced in Copenhagen. Fall Workshop Recently, we've kicked off the year with invited faculty and students from another country. Here visual and culinary cultures mix between both groups as the invited faculty organize a variety of workshops. Fasnacht Workshop Every spring during Basel's carnival week, MDes candidates participate in a one week workshop given by an invited designer to match the intensity of music in the streets.

Previous workshops have been given by: Summer Workshops MDes candidates are invited to participate in our international Summer Workshop series following their first year, an event their fellow master students from UIC also participate in. Developing a network with these students is key, as every other year the students of Basel travel to Chicago to further enrich this collaboration.
